Concussion Policy Overview
Rowan's Law legislation was passed by the Ontario Government in 2018. The legislation is designed to create a safer environment for competitive amateur athletes, children and youth to play sport. The Canadian Guideline on Concussion in Sport has been developed to ensure that athletes with a suspected concussion receive timely and appropriate care, and proper management to allow them to return to their sport.
Knowing how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a concussion, and what to do if a concussion happens, whether you’re an athlete, a parent, a coach, saves lives.
WGSA's goal is to increase awareness around concussion safety, bring conversations and be pro-active in concussion management. Documents provided below should be read, understood and acknowledged, and furthermore used as guidelines to manage concussions when a concussion is suspected.
